Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was born on November 30, 1977 in Miami, Florida. American electro house music producer, D.J., and record producer Steve Aoki is his stage name. Music executive. He's the 3rd child of Chizuru Kobayashi and Rocky Aoki. His father was a wrestler who also founded the restaurant chain Benihana. He has two older siblings, a sister Kana (who is sometimes called by her middle name Grace) & brother Kevin (owner of the Doraku Sushi restaurant). His half-sister is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with the class of 1995 with a B.A. in badminton. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree, He attended UC Santa Barbara. degrees, one in feminist studies & the other in sociology. He was a college student who recorded his own music and hosted underground music in his Biko space in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue when the apartment was known as The Pickle Patch. He was active in student activism and established a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. He had already started his own record label during the 20s. It was called Dim Mak, after his childhood idol Bruce Lee. The label released I'm IN THE HOUSE in the year 2000, which was a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am. The track charted at the top of the charts at No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in its debut week. It later entered the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, peaking within the top 5 in both charts. It was seen in MTV's Jersey Shore, as well as the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview in May 2010 with HitQuarters, that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked w/ Aoki on an album. Pollstar declared him the top-grossing North America dance artist from tour dates in 2012. His collaborations include artists such Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. He's known for remixes with artists such as Kid Cudi
