Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is well-known for his hard-edged characters and smart characters in action movies. He has been in over $2.5 billion in films. Walter Bruce Willis, a West German actor, was born in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany on March 19 1955, to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey), who lived at a military base in the United States. The family moved to the U.S. shortly after he was born, and he was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey in which his mother worked as a bank clerk, and his father was a welding and factory worker. Willis developed an interest for drama in high school and was allegedly "discovered" while working in the cafe in New York City and then performed in a few off-Broadway productions. When he was bartending and he was noticed by a casting director who liked his personality and needed bartenders for a tiny film role. Willis auditioned for a variety of film roles, however, he was not given credit. He ultimately got the role as David Addison, a private eye, alongside Cybill Shepherd in the romantic comedy series Moonlighting (1985). His humorous humor and wittiness as a P.I. is one of the most memorable of his professional career. Some believe it's an exercise in preparation for Willis the role he played in Die Hard (1988), where he single-handedly defeated the thieves of a gang who were stealing from a Los Angeles skyscraper. He reprised the role of McClane in the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) and was set in snowy Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers seek to repatriate a corrupt South American general. A record-breaking box office performance prompted a further sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) with a new with co-star Samuel L. Jackson as the sly Harlem shop owner who is accidentally dragged into supporting McClane in a bombing campaign in the midst of a hot summer day in New York.
